Vascular Malformations

Children are often born with malformations which are essentially birthmarks or an accumulated growth which is composed of blood vessels that causes cosmetic and functional problems for patients.

Depending on your type of vascular malformation, the treatment may slightly differ. To effectively tackle malformations in your body, a nonsurgical method is used where radiologists will treat patients using image guided procedures and embolization.

Medical glue or alcohol is put into the malformation so that no more blood flows through it. For Pulmonary AVMs, platinum coils are used to block the artery while the LMs and VMs are closed by using alcohol.
